THe Hole World--Sam Korman

The images above are brief but give a fair picture of my future earthwork. They depict graves, canyons, earthworks and performances. The overarching theme is the process of renewal, death and duration. Whether the collective tragedy of a country or the private death of an individual, burial sites take on special significance for the bereaved. But, we must not forget geological sites, whose drama of death and renewal radically shapes a landscape over millions of years. How do we react when faced with the chasm, the great void, embodied as a massive expanse or standing before our own 6 foot deep grave, the ultimate void? Where shall the tides of history take us as this great drama continues? Can we be resurrected?
